BOS­TON: An Ir­ish nanny ac­cused of killing a one-year-old girl in her care, and who served more than two years in prison, has had a mur­der charge against her dropped.

Aisling Brady McCarthy was cleared af­ter a state med­i­cal ex­am­iner re­versed an ear­lier de­ci­sion declar­ing the death a homi­cide caused by shaken baby syn­drome.

McCarthy had in­sisted she was in­no­cent and her lawyers vig­or­ously chal­lenged the med­i­cal ex­am­iner’s find­ings that the girl had died of com­pli­ca­tions of blunt-force head in­juries.
