Nanny free after switch
BOSTON: An Irish nanny accused of killing a one-year-old girl in her care, and who served more than two years in prison, has had a murder charge against her dropped.
Aisling Brady McCarthy was cleared after a state medical examiner reversed an earlier decision declaring the death a homicide caused by shaken baby syndrome.
McCarthy had insisted she was innocent and her lawyers vigorously challenged the medical examiner’s findings that the girl had died of complications of blunt-force head injuries.
