YOU’REY WELCOME AMERICA

THE COMEDY CHANNEL / 8.30PM

- NEALA JOHNSON

Will Ferrell always did love doing George W. Bush (hair greyed, eyes squinting) and this 2009 live special was the funnyman’s way of farewelling his favourite character just a couple of months after Dubya left the White House. Six years later, in the midst of Donald Trump-ageddon, it’s easy to feel a fond nostalgia for Dubya’s clangers — the words “actual quote” or “true” pop up on screen behind Ferrell when he quotes Bush verbatim. The comedy wrote itself when George W. was President.
