Yesterday, in the morn­ing, His Ex­cel­lency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey de­parted Seoul for Dae­jeon – sis­ter city of Bris­bane, and host of the 2017 Asia Pa­cific Cities Sum­mit. Fol­low­ing, the Gover­nor and Mrs de Jersey met Su­per­in­ten­dent, Dae­jeon Metropoli­tan Of­fice of Ed­u­ca­tion, Mr Dong-Ho Sul, teach­ers from Queens­land, and alumni of The Univer­sity of Queens­land. In the af­ter­noon, the Gover­nor and Mrs de Jersey met Vice Mayor for Ad­min­is­tra­tive Af­fairs, Dae­jeon Metropoli­tan City, Mr Ryu Soon-hyun, in sup­port of the Bris­bane Dae­jeon Sis­ter City Agree­ment and the Asia Pa­cific Cities Sum­mits, and de­liv­ered a let­ter from The Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of Bris­bane, Coun­cil­lor Graham Quirk, be­fore de­part­ing Dae­jeon to re­turn to Seoul. In the evening, at the Grand Hy­att, Seoul, the Gover­nor and Mrs de Jersey met for­mer De­fence Min­is­ter, Gen­eral Kwon YoungHae, to recog­nise the Gen­eral’s at­ten­dance at re­cent 100 years of AN­ZAC an­niver­sary com­mem­o­ra­tions in Queens­land, where the Gen­eral awarded spe­cial medal­lions to Korean War vet­er­ans based in Queens­land at cer­e­monies on the Gold and Sun­shine Coasts. Fol­low­ing, at the Grand Hy­att, Seoul, the Gover­nor and Mrs de Jersey at­tended the Queens­land Gov­ern­ment ‘Friends of Queens­land’ Cock­tail Re­cep­tion where the Gover­nor ad­dressed guests. Ear­lier, in the morn­ing, at Par­lia­ment House, Bris­bane, Act­ing Gover­nor, the Honourable Jus­tice Mar­garet McMurdo AC, at­tended the Wat­tle Day High Tea and ad­dressed guests.
