NZ visi­tors head list of ar­rivals


TRAV­ELLERS from New Zealand have topped the latest tally of visi­tors to Aus­tralia.

Aus­tralian Bureau of Sta­tis­tics fig­ures show 33,900 more peo­ple vis­ited Aus­tralia in July than in the same month last year and the big­gest in­crease was from New Zealand.

There were 112,300 ar­rivals from across the ditch in the month, a rise of 11,500, or 11.4 per cent, from July 2014, ac­count­ing for 18.5 per cent of the to­tal num­ber of over­seas visi­tors. China was sec­ond with 81,600 visi­tors, a rise of 8100, or 11 per cent.

Trav­ellers from China, which has more than dou­bled its flow of visi­tors to Aus­tralia in the past five years, made up 13.4 per cent of the 607,000 ar­rivals in July.
