GU­ATEMALA CITY: Gu­atemala’s newly sworn-in pres­i­dent has de­manded all top gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials re­sign, promis­ing an hon­est and in­clu­sive ad­min­is­tra­tion, fol­low­ing the sur­prise res­ig­na­tion of Pres­i­dent Otto Perez Molina amid a widen­ing fraud in­quiry.

As Ale­jan­dro Mal­don­ado took of­fice, his pre­de­ces­sor was in court hear­ing ac­cu­sa­tions he was em­broiled in a scheme in which busi­ness­peo­ple paid bribes to avoid im­port du­ties through Cus­toms.

Mr Perez Molina is the first Gu­atemalan pres­i­dent to quit.
