Aussies roll Cuba

AUS­TRALIA scored its first in­ter­na­tional win over Cuba in five years with a 7-4 win in ex­tra in­nings in the un­der-18 World Cup in Osaka yesterday.

In a ma­jor up­set to start the tour­na­ment’s Su­per Round, world No.14 Aus­tralia downed the third-ranked Cubans in 10 in­nings with power hit­ting, in­clud­ing a decisive two-run sin­gle from Mitch Hold­ing.

Re­liever Mitch Ne­un­born pitched his way out of a hole in the bot­tom of the ninth be­fore clos­ing the game with a flaw­less 10th in­ning.

Aus­tralia’s sec­ond Su­per Round game is against world No.7 Canada from 1pm to­day (AEST).
