Aussies roll Cuba
AUSTRALIA scored its first international win over Cuba in five years with a 7-4 win in extra innings in the under-18 World Cup in Osaka yesterday.
In a major upset to start the tournament’s Super Round, world No.14 Australia downed the third-ranked Cubans in 10 innings with power hitting, including a decisive two-run single from Mitch Holding.
Reliever Mitch Neunborn pitched his way out of a hole in the bottom of the ninth before closing the game with a flawless 10th inning.
Australia’s second Super Round game is against world No.7 Canada from 1pm today (AEST).
