Flu claims teen’s life
A TEENAGE boy has died from the flu after fighting for his life in a Newcastle hospital for a month.
Nathan Brown, 19, was placed in a medically-induced coma in August in an effort to stave off the damage to his body caused by influenza A.
His uncle Peter Brown said Nathan was an “extremely sick man” who was battling acute pneumonia, a staph infection, collapsed lungs, kidney failure and fluid on his heart, after being struck down with the flu.
The teenager died at died at Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital yesterday morning.
