AUSTRALIA has fallen head over heels for as The Bachelorette smashes online ratings records.

The second episode of the Channel 10 series knocked fantasy phenomenon Game of Thrones off its perch and this month broke the record for the highest sevenday online catch-up audience in Australia.

The September 21 episode attracted an extra 179,000 viewers wanting to catch up online after it had aired on TV.

It’s the biggest increase for a single episode of any show on Australian television.

Foxtel’s hugely popular show Game of Thrones season 7, episode 7, reached 176,000. The first two episodes of The Bachelorette dominated the most watched shows online in Australia, ranking one and three in the OzTAM seven-day VPM ratings.

Network Ten chief content officer said the Gold Coast celebrity (pictured) was a massive ratings success online and on TV.

“Australia has fallen in love with Sophie Monk and the bachelors, regardless of what screen they are watching them on,” Ms McGarvey said.
