Needle to beat breast cancer
A BREAST cancer vaccine is being developed by an Australian company to treat one of the most common forms of the disease – and it may one day prevent it altogether.
Studies of the groundbreaking new HER-vaxx jab, which stimulates the body’s own immune systems in the fight, have shown it to improve survival rates in mice.
The vaccine will help the 25 per cent of women whose breast cancer over-expresses the HER-2 protein, which causes a more aggressive form of the disease.
It will also help some gastric cancer patients.
