The Courier-Mail - - LETTERS - Elizabeth Harrington, Milton

THE man who killed a Brisbane bus driver will not stand trial because he is mentally ill. When it is suggested that people with a mental illness be separated from society while they are ill, we are told that this is discriminatory and that they are more likely to suffer from than to inflict violence. But surely it is important to keep them safe as well as the community. Someone with an infectious disease is isolated for the sake of others, why not those with mental illness?
