Gas attack ‘possible’

The Courier-Mail - - NEWS -

AUSTRALIA could be targeted by a Novichok poisoning such as that used by suspected Russian agents in the UK, Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton has warned.

But it is terrorists who have returned from the Middle East who are the most likely to carry out any attack, intelligence briefings suggest.

Brisbane is hosting experts from the US, UK and Canada to conduct dry runs of how to deal with a deadly gas attack.

“Australians need to recognise we are under significant threat. Any Western democracy is,” Mr Dutton said.
