TRIPLE TREAT TO STEP OUT WITH THE BEST OF COMPANY
BRISBANE’S best budding ballerinas are in high spirits this weekend as they perform alongside the Imperial Russian Ballet Company.
Sixteen lucky dancers from the Desley Donaldson Ballet Academy in Brisbane have been chosen to perform in the opening Act of Sleeping Beauty, as part of a Russian Triple Bill at QPAC tonight.
The ballet company will also perform Les Sylphides and Carmen as part of the three-part evening.
Amelie Johnsen, 13, of Bunya in Brisbane’s northwest, has been dancing for three years and said she was “excited” to represent Queensland.
She has been practising her role for three months, perfecting the choreography from the Russian ballet masters.
“I think it’s such a privilege to dance in a production with dancers of such a high standard. It’s so exciting to have been chosen. I hope to maybe one day be a professional dancer,” she said.
The two-night season by the Imperial Russian Ballet Company ends tonight at the QPAC Concert Hall.
