A PLACE where you can sleep with sharks won the top gong at Master Builder’s Queensland Housing & Construction Awards last night

FK Gardner & Sons, who build and engineer everything from residential to aged care and retirement projects, were recognised for their work at The Cairns Aquarium. It not only took out the Project of the Year, but also the Tourism and Leisure Facilities over $10 million award category.

Master Builders’ CEO Grant Galvin said The Cairns Aquarium was the obvious winner not only because it was Australia’s first aquarium built in 18 years, but also because of the boost provided to the local economy.

“Where else can you find a man-built attraction that showcases so many World Heritage-listed attractions in the one spot,” Mr Galvin said.

“It really is a one-of-a-kind, world class venue.”

The next Sleep with the Sharks event is on tonight and includes a night tour, barbecue dinner and a night’s accommodation in the Oceanarium.
