Back to school at home
THE idea of returning to homeschooling is enough to send a shiver up the spine of many Queensland parents. But if the Victorian experience has taught us anything, it is that COVID-19 can quickly evade containment lines and get out of control.
With this in mind it is wise for Education Department officials to prepare for another bout of lockdown restrictions. It is also prudent that they are conducting a review of the state’s first attempt at home-schooling during Term 2 earlier this year.
There should be much to learn from the massive technology failures and parental uncertainty that plagued the home-schooling rollout in April.
Parents and students alike deserve better if schools are once again closed throughout the state.
