Yamba Yab­bies held meet­ing No. 232 Mon­day Septem­ber 4 with Joy as Toast­mas­ter and Spring the theme cho­sen. ‘Ac­co­lade’ was the word of the night given by Gram­mar­ian Jeanette and used ex­ten­sively dur­ing the meet­ing. Jan was Timer.

In the Speech Seg­ment, Alis­ter spoke from Com­pe­tent Com­mu­ni­ca­tor Man­ual Speech No. 3 - Get to the point - ti­tled ‘The four Loves of CS Lewis’. Alis­ter is a com­pe­tent speaker and he told us the 4 loves - Storge -Nat­u­ral Af­fec­tion, Phillia friend­ship/broth­erly love, Eros - sin­gle at­trac­tion and Agape - God’s love. It was a very in­ter­est­ing de­liv­ery. A small busi­ness meet­ing was held prior to Pam’s speech from Ad­vanced Man­ual - Hu­mor­ously Speak­ing and ti­tled ‘Swim­suits’. Pam and Alis­ter eval­u­ated each other with very help­ful hints.

Noel gave us a Book Re­view on Peter Watt’s books of which he had ev­ery copy. He ex­plained in depth what the books cov­ered in the life of, the McIn­tosh and Duffie fam­i­lies.

Pam was Ta­ble Top­ics Mas­ter and used ‘spring’ for the theme. Speak­ers were Genevieve, Jan, Joy, Noel, Jeanette and Alis­ter. Jeanette and Pam did the eval­u­a­tions.

Yamba Yab­bies 10 year An­niver­sary will be held at Yamba Bowl­ing Club Septem­ber 23, com­menc­ing with morn­ing tea at 9am at a cost of $20. Any past mem­bers who have not yet re­ceived an in­vite, please phone Jan if you can at­tend and part­ners are all wel­come. Please con­firm num­bers by Septem­ber 18 for cater­ing pur­poses.

Pam and Alis­ter will be rep­re­sent­ing our Club in Bal­lina on Septem­ber 30 in the up­com­ing speech con­test.
