Above : In 1890 Ramornie Meat Works sup­ported a pri­vate vil­lage of ap­prox­i­mately 20 fam­i­lies en­gaged in the pro­duc­tion of meat prod­ucts. The vil­lage had a post of¿ce, tele­phone, English church and a Public school. The works em­ployed slaugh­ter­men, hide-cur­ers, bon­ers, cut­ters-up, tin-mak­ers, sawyers, cask-mak­ers, ¿re­wood-get­ters, pine and stave get­ters, coopers, box mak­ers, pack­ers and ship­pers.
