$1¼M ALLOTTED FOR GRAFTON AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE EXCHANGE
A total of $1,256,000 is being allotted for the overall project of providing Grafton with a new automatic telephone exchange, and the installation is expected to commence this financial year, Mr. Ian Robinson, M.H.R. for Cowper, announced last night.
HISTORICAL SOCIETY’S NEW HOME OPENED
Grafton’s new home for the Clarence River Historical Society, Schaeffer House, was officially opened by the mayor of Grafton. Ald. W. E. Crisp, yesterday afternoon, at a function arranged conjointly by the Historical Society and the Grafton City Council. The mayor outlined the history of negotiations which had concluded with the city council acquiring the house for the historical society.
CHALLENGE ISSUED BY SOUTH GRAFTON FIRE BRIGADE
The South Grafton Volunteer Fire Brigade last night issued a challenge to the Grafton Volunteer Fire Brigade to a hose cart race at the Jacaranda Festival grand finale at the Grafton Showground, next Saturday night.
The South Grafton team was announced last night.
