ALLBUTT-WALLACE The engagement is announced of Anne Louise, only daughter or Mrs J Wallace, of Konorigan, and the late Mr W Wallace, to John Lester, youngest son of Mrs M Williams, of Conjla, and the late Mr J Allbutt.
FLOOD WORKS TO COST OVER $1M
Works estimated to cost $1,081,940, were outlined in the 1967-68 programme for the Clarence River County Council (flood mitigation authority) by the county engineer, Mr M Brown, at yesterday’s council meeting in Grafton.
Funds for the works programme have been made available by State and Federal grants, $830,000; council’s share, $207,500 and a carry over from 1966-67 of $44,000.
ERADICATION OF AQUATIC PESTS
Chairman of the Clarence River (Flood Mitigation) County Council, Cr G J McCartney, yesterday stressed the obvious need for the eradication of aquatic pests. He was speaking at a meeting of the council in Grafton.

The Baryulgil RSL Sub-branch ball was an outstanding success, with the hall a mass of gladioli, lilies, roses and ferns. Gold and blue balloons suspended form the ceiling added a final touch to the most attractive setting.
