ALLBUTT-WAL­LACE The en­gage­ment is an­nounced of Anne Louise, only daugh­ter or Mrs J Wal­lace, of Konori­gan, and the late Mr W Wal­lace, to John Lester, youngest son of Mrs M Wil­liams, of Con­jla, and the late Mr J Allbutt.

FLOOD WORKS TO COST OVER $1M

Works es­ti­mated to cost $1,081,940, were out­lined in the 1967-68 pro­gramme for the Clarence River County Coun­cil (flood mit­i­ga­tion au­thor­ity) by the county en­gi­neer, Mr M Brown, at yes­ter­day’s coun­cil meet­ing in Grafton.

Funds for the works pro­gramme have been made avail­able by State and Fed­eral grants, $830,000; coun­cil’s share, $207,500 and a carry over from 1966-67 of $44,000.

ERAD­I­CA­TION OF AQUATIC PESTS

Chair­man of the Clarence River (Flood Mit­i­ga­tion) County Coun­cil, Cr G J McCart­ney, yes­ter­day stressed the ob­vi­ous need for the erad­i­ca­tion of aquatic pests. He was speak­ing at a meet­ing of the coun­cil in Grafton.

BARYULGIL RSL BALL OUT­STAND­ING SUC­CESS, FOR­MAL GOWNS

The Baryulgil RSL Sub-branch ball was an out­stand­ing suc­cess, with the hall a mass of glad­i­oli, lilies, roses and ferns. Gold and blue bal­loons suspended form the ceil­ing added a fi­nal touch to the most at­trac­tive set­ting.
