Men Last Saturday’s Medley Stableford was played in mild overcast conditions by a field of 56 players on recently renovated greens. Richard Parker showed his local knowledge in his great winning score of 40 points. Jonah Menzies took the runner-up position with 39 points on a c/b from Chris Moorhead, also on 39, moving Chris into third place. Elena Roylance has been playing consistently lately with Elena returning 38 points and husband Marcus 36. The NTPs were all under 2 metres. The 2nd was won by visitor, Martin Tishler at 153cms. The 7th went to Hugh Saunders at 177cms, Greg Saul the 11th at 173cms and Wendy King hit a beauty on the 17th to 101cms. The pro-ball rundown went to 34 points on a c/b. Thursdays Medley Stableford saw Peter Hamilton and John Porter fight it out for the win, both carding 38 points. Peter came out the winner on a c/b pushing John into the runner-up place. Paul Moore took the NTP on the 2nd at 330cms, Greg Saul the 7th at 263cms, John Ryan the 11th at 424 and Doug Hudson the 17th with an excellent shot to 45cms. To win a pro-ball you had to play to your handicap or better. Another good field turned up for Wednesday afternoons 9 Hole Skins game. Terry Mitchell came out on top with 4 skins, including two three pointers and a four pointer. Don Skaines and Phil Killian both claimed 4 pointers as well. Nice chip-in Killer! This coming Saturdays event is a 4BBB Stableford sponsored by Coopers. The final of the Tooheys Shield is on Sunday 26th at Iluka in conjunction with their Open weekend. See Captain Geoff to nominate. — Phil McGuire Women Due to green renovations during last week Maclean Ladies played an 18 Hole “Mulligans” game with no putting which seemed popular with many players. It seems that getting to the green is not a problem for most but those last few shots to get that ball in the hole seem to add up. Our Division 1 winner was Chris Timbs. Great to see Chris in the winner’s circle and the runner-up was Kim Eckersley who is on holidays and joined us for the day. Well done Kim it was great to have you in the field. Division 2 winner was Eleane Roylance who has been in great form and well deserved with the runner-up being the very consistent Edith Piddington. NTP’s went to Div 1 Chris Picton Div 2 Mary Wiseman and Club Balls went to K Ryan, M Killian, N Commerford, C Parker, B Ensbey, D Moore & V George. Last week 10 of our ladies travelled to Byron Bay and certainly flew the Maclean flag high with Chris Timbs, Sandra Youlten, Eleane Roylance, Kylie Ryan, Liama Hunter & Maureen Killian and Henny Taranto all taking home major prizes and the others balls and trophies so congratulations to all players. Some girls also went to the annual Jug tournament in Armidale, played well and did Maclean proud so well done Chrissy, Helen & Chris. As it is getting towards the end of the golfing calendar this weeks event is also a fun day playing a Flag game which will be further explained by Captain Helen on Wednesday so good luck everyone the greens should prove interesting after the renovations. Our sponsor for the day is Edith Piddington so play hard. — Cathy Ayres
