The hankering for a good ol’ Aussie story hasn’t waned. Who would have thought that a languid show exploring the lives of people in remote towns would become one of the most watched? While presenter Heather Ewart’s neighbourly manner is key to Back Roads’ success, it is perhaps city folks’ fascination with country living that has struck a chord. Tonight, Heather travels to Pine Creek, a pioneering outback town in the Northern Territory. Built on the gold rush of the 1870s, these days things are sadly looking a little more bust. But as Heather looks beneath the surface, hope blooms. Pine Creek has many stories to tell.
