Leg bitten in shark attack
A SHARK has attacked a surfer near Margaret River.
The man, in his 30s, was bitten on the leg at Lefthanders surf break at Gracetown on WA’s south coast about 8.20am yesterday.
Friends used the rope from the victim’s board as a tourniquet and gave him first aid until emergency crews arrived from Margaret River within six minutes. The victim was conscious and was flown to Royal Perth Hospital.
The Margaret River Pro surfing competition was temporarily suspended after the attack.
