RE­LAY GRA­HAM CRU­SADE TO GAOL AND ARUMA

The Sun­day af­ter­noon meet­ings of the Billy Gra­ham Cru­sade Land­lines in Grafton will be re­layed to the Grafton Gaol to Aruma. The gaol will re­ceive both Sun­day af­ter­noon meet­ings and Aruma that of Sun­day, April 28.

DOC­TORS’ FUND TO AS­SIST TRAIN­ING AT BASE HOS­PI­TAL

Chair­man of the board of di­rec­tors of the Grafton Base Hos­pi­tal, Mr. R. R. McGre­gor, said in Grafton yes­ter­day that the med­i­cal prac­ti­tion­ers in Grafton were to es­tab­lish a fund to as­sist in train­ing at the base hos­pi­tal.

PARAVANE CAUGHT IN NETS OF PRAWN TRAWLER

An ob­ject which was later iden­ti­fied as a paravane – a tor­pedo shaped con­trivance towed from the side of a ship and used for the pro­tec­tion of ships against mines – was caught in a prawn net off Yamba in the early hours of yes­ter­day morn­ing.

OUT­LINE OF “NEW MATHS” BY SCHOOL PRIN­CI­PAL

Mem­bers of the monthly meet­ing of the Grafton Pub­lic School P and C As­so­ci­a­tion’s ladies’ aux­il­liary found that math­e­mat­ics could be ex­cit­ing – and frus­trat­ing – when the prin­ci­pal, Mr. L. Ellem, spoke on the “the new maths” in schools. He took “bases” as his topic.
