Grafton juniors take on the Ballina course
GRAFTON juniors competed in the Jack Newton Masters series at Ballina during the past two days.
The course was in immaculate condition, greens fast but fair and fairways with run played under cloudless skies.
No trophies returned from the event.
Willow Harris played to form on the first day and had 75, three over – he recorded an eagle on the par five 6th hole, his 15th hole for the day, and played the last four holes in two under par
Nick Fuller, who was battling his driver playing with Willow, played the last four holes in four over and recorded an 81 gross
On the second day, Fuller recorded 81 again, playing most of his game from among the trees battling a big hook, while Harris failed to back up his good work on the first day and recorded a 79 gross, three over, winning the overall trophy.
Hollie Fuller, playing off a 14 handicap, played her first 18-hole event in the Masters series without a caddie and had a great first day at 88 gross.
She recorded many pars and a birdie in her round but could have been much better except for a poor finish on the last three holes – a triple/bogey/double had her finish 16 over the card.
On the second day she struggled with her short game and recorded a 90 gross, 18 over, and finished 10 shots behind the winner in her section.
Maddison Mckee also played in the tournament.
GAME ON: Nick Fuller and Willow Harris wait to tee off.
