RIDBC Book & Com­mu­nity Fair, Royal In­sti­tute for Deaf and Blind Chil­dren (Main Cam­pus), 361-365 North Rocks Rd, North Rocks; 8am-3pm, ridbc.org.au The high­light of this fair is surely the book sale, where you can browse hun­dreds of ti­tles in­clud­ing fic­tion and non-fic­tion, an­ti­quar­ian and spe­cial­ist books as well as col­lectibles, chil­dren’s toys, CDs and DVDs. But there are also rides, a jump­ing cas­tle, food and ar­ti­san stalls, a bar­be­cue, bal­loon bend­ing, face paint­ing and live en­ter­tain­ment. Pro­ceeds go to the Royal In­sti­tute for Deaf and Blind Chil­dren.

Pic­ture Per­fect, War­ringah Mall Li­brary, 145 Old Pittwa­ter Rd, Brook­vale; 9am-noon, 1pm-4pm, for kids aged 12-15, 9942 2449, war­ringah.nsw.gov.au Do you love tak­ing pho­tos but don’t have a fancy cam­era? Learn some of the ba­sic prin­ci­ples at this photography work­shop us­ing the lat­est iPad Air 2, sup­plied by War­ringah Coun­cil. Par­tic­i­pants ex­plore and shoot the lo­cal area in groups of five. Their favourite shot will be dis­played at the Pic­ture Per­fect ex­hi­bi­tion at War­ringah Cre­ative Space from Au­gust 6-10.
