Grandpa suggests a wintry trip to the park, but Lily is reluctant. She comes up with a range of imaginative excuses: “A dog ate my sneakers for breakfast … A bird made my scarf into a nest”. Grandpa counters with bizarre solutions that he claims will be “the perfect thing” — all entertainingly depicted in bright colours. Lily gives in and the pair walk to the park to exercise their curly, colourful imaginations, taking trips into space and through the centre of the earth: the park is indeed “the perfect thing.” With its two lively Aboriginal characters, the book is a feast of movement and brilliant colour.
