CAPE SOLANDER, KAMAY BOTANY BAY NA­TIONAL PARK, Whales have been spot­ted as close as 200m from the coast from this site’s view­ing plat­form. NORTH HEAD, MANLY It boasts a paved, gen­tle track loop­ing around North Head with views across the Har­bour and a great vantage spot to see whales. SOUTH HEAD, WAT­SON’S BAY The Gap of­fers great ocean views, as does the South Head Her­itage Trail to Hornby Light­house. BARRENJOEY HEAD­LAND, PALM BEACH It’s a bit fur­ther north, but you’ll be re­warded for the trek with panoramic ocean views from Barrenjoey Light­house. THE COAST TRACK, ROYAL NA­TIONAL PARK Head south and choose your spot from 26km of track from Bun­deena to Ot­ford of­fer­ing a great chance to spot them close to the coast.
