If you want your home to be individual, think about how you want the exterior of your home to look.

Most designs offer a number of facade options but bear in mind premium facades will incur an extra cost so ensure you know exactly how much it will add to the bill.

Bill recommends thinking about this change sooner rather than later.

“Consideration should be given to the facade selection early — not as an afterthought,” he says.

You could also consider choosing an alternate front door from the builder’s range (or painting the standard inclusion in a colour that suits your personality) or even stretching to a custom door handle which you can install after you move in for ultimate personalisation.

Think about getting creative with your landscaping in the front yard to create a distinct entryway to set the style of your new home.

Bear in mind landscaping isn’t usually included in the package price from your builder and would be completed outside the build period using a contractor of your choice.
