SMALL SPACE, BIG FUN

The Daily Telegraph (Sydney) - Home - - FOCUS - More ikea.com.au

Just because your backyard resembles a postage stamp, doesn’t mean you can’t put your feet up for the holidays.

In small spaces like balconies and courtyards, everything is right by the back door, which in some ways makes setting up the perfect outdoor space easier as lines between indoor and outdoor spaces become increasingly blurred.

Go for flexible furniture, like these pieces from Ikea (left and below) where footstools can double as side tables and shelving is strong enough to double as bench seating.

Folding or stackable furniture is useful, too, while lanterns can be strung up between fence lines to take the fun into the evening.
