A WARM WELCOME HOME

The Daily Telegraph (Sydney) - Home - - FOCUS -

If you have a veranda or patio, give it a good tidy up and clean, and think about how you can best make use of your space.

“Built-in storage is a great idea for outdoor small spaces, so you have a place to stash the clutter,” says Cherie. “On a balcony or patio, think about a smart timber slat cupboard or under-seat storage.”

If you have outdoor furniture on your patio, ensure it’s clean and still in good nick after a cold winter.

One of the easiest updates to your veranda is to rotate pot plants, says Anastasia from Mood Design, whose work is pictured, above.

“Plants are coming out of hibernation and preparing for their most impressive performance in spring so use these at your entrance or in common outdoor living areas to show them off,” she says.

If space is an issue, visit your local hardware store for a vertical garden kit, which will be easy and quick to install.

If you’re concerned about privacy from the neighbours, consider bamboo or cane screening for a natural look that can easily co-ordinate with your garden.
