SUSTAINABLE HOUSE DAY

The Daily Telegraph (Sydney) - Home - - BUILD - sustainablehouseday.com

More than 170 houses will be open across Australia and up to 20,000 people are expected to take part.

The homes were designed, built or renovated with sustainability as a key goal. All homes have a minimum of four sustainable features.

Anyone wanting to visit the homes must register via the website prior to the day. Once you have registered you will be given access to house addresses to visit.

Sustainable House Day is a free event although some homes may charge a gold coin donation to go to charity.

The event is run by the Alternative Technology Association. It showcases passive solar design principles, energy saving ideas as well as technologies such as PV cells.

The living space opens to a deck, facilitating indoor-outdoor living.
