45 charged over drugs
A GERMAN national was allegedly caught with 396 ecstasy pills at the weekend’s Defqon. 1 music festival.
Julian Heldt, 22, was one of 45 people charged with drug offences at the event, which catered for 24,000 lovers of “harder styles”, at Penrith’s regatta centre on Saturday.
Heldt was charged with supply prohibited drug and breach of bail, while another man with 200 pills and a woman carrying 87 pills were also charged. The sweep, using drug dogs and a heavy police presence, resulted in eight people charged with drug supply and 37 with possession.
There were also 450 random tests on drivers.
