IT’S SHOWTIME FOR AUSSIES
Nicole Kidman may be the Aussie name on everybody’s lips headed into today’s Emmy Awards, but she is not the only star from Down Under on centre stage in the lead-up to the red carpet. Hollywood was abuzz over the weekend with pre-Emmys parties, and a string of Australians were out in the lead-up to tomorrow's ceremony. The Australian Emmy Nominee Sunset Reception was held yesterday and the Aussies turned out on force for the event. Orange Is The New Black star Ruby Rose arrived with girlfriend Jessica Origliasso from Aussie band The Veronicas. The pair appeared to be couple dressing in black and white. It would not be a Aussie film event without Geoffrey Rush. The legend of the industry is nominated today for his role depicting Albert Einstein.
Also in attendance were costume designer Perry Meek, who has already picked up an award, actors Matt Levett and Oliver Ackland and Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty.
“I was nervous, but in a way I knew I was handing it over to such talented people,” Moriarty said of the show’s success.
“The names that we got obviously with Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon … was just incredible.”
“I’m sort of to the side but just enjoying every moment.”
Kidman is the favourite to take out the Best Actress gong for her role in Big Little Lies. Win or lose, the Aussie will surely be a hit on the red carpet, regularly featuring on the award circuit’s best-dressed list.
