Radio royalty Keller still in air elite

The Daily Telegraph (Sydney) - - The Everest -

THERE’S no room for inflated ego in Amanda Keller’s life.

The 55-year-old veteran radio and television presenter is at the top of her game, but says her family, friends and listeners keep her well and truly grounded.

“This job is too hard to have an ego, there is no swanning around,” she said ahead of the radio industry’s ACRA Awards tonight.

“The value of being respected is important to me, the fact we still have jobs where people still want us to turn up and that the audience feels like that too. I don’t take that for granted. I am never glib about the privilege that this is because there’s a lot of people that would be happy to take our places.”

Keller and WSFM co-host Brendan “Jonesy” Jones are nominated in several categories at the annual ACRA’s — radio’s equivalent of the Logies or the ARIA Awards — including best on-air team. More than 30 awards will be handed out over the night, held in Melbourne.

“There is no more intimate, immediate way to talk to an audience and to share your view of the world and hear their view of the world,” Keller said.
