The Daily Telegraph (Sydney) - - The Everest - KIM WILSON

AUSSIE women will soon be able to clad themselves in childhood dreams with a new range of gowns based on costumes worn by classic Disney princesses.

Australian couture designer Paul Vasileff will tomorrow unveil a selection of dresses based on classic characters in animated Disney films, including those worn by Cinderella and Belle from Beauty And The Beast. However, the pieces will have a very contemporary twist.

Mr Vasileff pulled off the Disney deal after writing to Mary Costa, who was the voice of Princess Aurora in the 1959 Disney classic Sleeping Beauty. He sent her sketches of his dresses and she then put him in touch with Disney,

“What better person to call with this idea (for the collection) than a real Disney princess? It moved very quickly,“Mr Vasileff said.

“I think a lot of people think it will be a Cinderella or Belle gown, but it goes a bit deeper than that.

“There will be some pieces you will identify with some characters, but others will reflect a mood or feeling,” he said.

Mr Vasileff’s Paolo Sebastian Once Upon a Dream — A DisneyInspired Collection will be revealed at the Adelaide Fashion Festival tomorrow. The show features rising modelling star Akiima.
