FOR­MER Aus­tralian Idol win­ner Kate DeAraugo has been spared a con­vic­tion for drug driv­ing, pos­sess­ing the il­le­gal drug ice and car­ry­ing weapons.

DeAraugo, 32, who won the TV singing con­test in 2005 be­fore be­com­ing a mem­ber of pop group the Young Di­vas, was handed a 12-month com­mu­nity cor­rec­tion order and dis­qual­i­fied from driv­ing for six months. She was sen­tenced af­ter plead­ing guilty to eight charges.
