HIGH-pro­file cross­bencher Jac­qui Lam­bie has de­parted the Se­nate af­ter ad­mit­ting she is a dual Bri­tish ci­ti­zen. How­ever, she also hinted that she could make a come­back by con­test­ing a by-elec­tion if Tas­ma­nian La­bor MP Jus­tine Keay is found to also be in­el­i­gi­ble to sit in Par­lia­ment.

In a tear­ful ad­dress to the Se­nate yes­ter­day, Ms Lam­bie said she had “worked hard to be a voice for those who don’t get much of a voice”. She is likely to be re­placed by Jac­qui Lam­bie Net­work can­di­date Steve Martin, but said she would con­sider run­ning against Ms Keay.

“You can’t keep a bloody Lam­bie down,” she said.
