NRL star Benji Marshall has praised his wife Zoe’s bravery and told of his heartbreak over the violence she suffered in an earlier relationship. Zoe, six-months pregnant with the couple’s first child, spoke exclusively to The Daily Telegraph about the abuse while dating another man — before meeting Benji and marrying in 2013. The Wests Tigers-bound player yesterday told The Daily Telegraph: “I want women who are suffering from domestic violence or abuse to be inspired by Zoe’s bravery and feel safe to speak up and to not feel alone.” He also posted an emotional tribute to his wife on Instagram saying: “My heart is hurting for you ... knowing what you have had to endure and live through ... I am beyond proud of you for sharing your story so openly and honestly and giving women and men the strength to speak up against domestic violence and abuse. I love you and I am here for you.”
