JULIA Stone’s own popularity often catches her unawares.

She and brother Angus are on the cusp of a 19-date North American tour to support their fourth studio album Snow, with more than half the shows already sold out.

“It’s always a surprise,” Stone, 33, said. “Angus and I will be on stage in some small city in France playing to 4000 people who know every word to our songs.”

Stone said she liked “playing in places a bit more off the beaten track” and revealed plans were afoot to lock in Russian dates next year and possibly a South American tour in late 2018.

The siblings return to Australia to play the four venue Falls Festival in December (including Byron Bay on New Year’s Eve) and January, then take a few months off before a run of east coast shows.
