FINE IS JUST NOT CRICKET
ESTEEMED cricket commentator Jonathan Agnew has decried overzealous authorities for booking him for jaywalking just after midnight yesterday on a deserted Adelaide street.
The BBC and ABC commentator, who last week declared his love for Adelaide as a city and Test venue, was walking to Adelaide Railway Station when four officers emerged to inform him of the offence, asking for his name and address. He is yet to receive the fine.
“Booked for walking across a deserted street at 0045. Adelaide! I used to love you! How sad,” Agnew declared on Twitter shortly afterwards.
Adelaide police said they were entitled to enforce “a range’’ of pedestrian offences.
