LOOKING THROUGH ROSÉ-TINTED GLASSES
WITH summer getting into full swing it’s the right time to drink pink.
Rosé looks set to be our wine of choice, taking over from more traditional hot weather favourites such as sauvignon blanc. The rosé segment of the wine market is now worth $46 million and Cellarmasters says it is the fastest growing wine variety across all categories, up an astonishing 58 per cent in the past 12 months.
Sydney even has its first dedicated rosé bar, Rosé Royale in Potts Point, which opened two weeks ago.
“I love rosé and I was sick of going to restaurants and having 15 whites, 15 reds and two rosés on the menu,” owner Jerome Frederic Dubois said. “We have had an absolutely amazing response because I think it was something that was needed.”
