Coun­cil fa­cil­i­tates free grant writ­ing work­shops

Not-for-profit or­gan­i­sa­tions will have the op­por­tu­nity to at­tend a free work­shop that will fo­cus on fundrais­ing and se­cur­ing grant fund­ing.

Fed­er­a­tion Coun­cil will host the work­shops in Corowa and Urana on Tues­day, Novem­ber 29.

Fed­er­a­tion Coun­cil Administrator Mike Eden said he was en­cour­ag­ing res­i­dents to at­tend the work­shop which would also cover round two of the Stronger Com­mu­ni­ties Fund.

“The work­shops will pro­vide an op­por­tu­nity for groups to hear more about the Stronger Com­mu­ni­ties Fund, in­clud­ing some tips for suc­cess with their ap­pli­ca­tions,” Mr Eden said.

“Coun­cil is pleased to be run­ning these work­shops to sup­port groups in their ef­forts to se­cure funds for great com­mu­nity pro­jects and ini­tia­tives.

“De­signed to be in­ter­ac­tive, par­tic­i­pants will leave the work­shop with a range of ideas, tools and strate­gies for suc­cess.”

Work­shop fa­cil­i­ta­tor Deanne Drage has been en­gaged by coun­cil to co­or­di­nate the Stronger Com­mu­ni­ties Fund and has ex­ten­sive ex­pe­ri­ence work­ing with com­mu­nity groups to build their busi­ness for bet­ter out­comes with ev­i­denced based plan­ning.

Deanne is also a found­ing Direc­tor of Al­bury Wodonga Re­gional FoodShare and in 2015, suc­cess­fully led the team which raised more than $127,928 us­ing best prac­tice fund rais­ing prin­ci­ples.

Mr Eden said Deanne has a wealth of knowl­edge to share with those who at­tend the work­shop.

“We think peo­ple will find this to be a very valu­able ses­sion,” he said.

The work­shops will be held on Tues­day, Novem­ber 29 from 9.15am – 12.30pm in Corowa and from 4.30pm – 7.30pm in Urana.
