More grants - Just Say­ing

Art­work ti­tled ‘Just Say­ing’ is one of four fi­nan­cial grants ob­tained by Fed­er­a­tion Coun­cil.

A $5,000 grant has been an­nounced by Re­gional Arts NSW to un­der­take a project by a mu­ral artist in con­junc­tion with young peo­ple aged 14 to 16-years to plan, de­sign and pro­duce a large but por­ta­ble mu­ral art­work.

‘Just Say­ing’ is the ti­tle of the art­work, fo­cus­ing on pos­i­tive con­tri­bu­tions young peo­ple can bring to com­mu­ni­ties.

Four full day work­shops will be un­der­taken over a four to six week pe­riod. The im­age will be painted onto sev­eral large pan­els that make up a 3.6m x 2.4m ex­hibit which can be used in­doors or out­doors.

“The ex­hi­bi­tion will travel around Fed­era- tion Coun­cil area for about three months,” coun­cil’s In­terim Gen­eral Man­ager Chris Gil­lard said at coun­cil’s monthly meet­ing on Novem­ber 15.

In other grant news: • In­stal­la­tion of school zone flash­ing lights in Tower Street for Corowa High School has been ap­proved by the NSW Gov­ern­ment. • Safety en­hance­ments at the in­ter­sec­tion of Red­lands Road and Jas­min Court Corowa to the value of $31,000. A fur­ther $24,500 has been ap­proved for the in­ter­sec­tion of Bull Plain Road and Spring Drive Mul­wala. Both to be funded by the Aus­tralian Gov­ern­ment. • A NSW Gov­ern­ment $8,000 grant has been se­cured to as­sist coun­cil run a free an­i­mal mirochip­ping day and de­sex­ing event.
