Corowa Civic Bowls

The Free Press (Corowa) - - CLASSIES (03) -

At last the weather god came good, little wind and lots of sunshine during the week.

Mid-week pennant had mixed results. The open B1s lost to our uptown rivals, the RSL, by 28 shots, they we far too good on the day.

The Open 3s and the Open 4s both had close but good wins, the B4s getting some revenge on the RSL with a one shot win.

Weekend pennant saw only the A1 side successful.

They had a 5 shot win over YMGCR, 92 to 87, the stand-out rink being Max Scanlon’s boys who won their rink by 17 shots.

Emu Webb won the last 2 ends of his game to secure a tie.

The A3’s, the B2’s and the B3’s all got a lesson in bowls, losing by 47, 38 and 35 shots respectively.

Social Bowls on Wednesday was won by the pair of Marg Watson and Gus Stephens (maybe a new member).

Second were Lynton Ford and Margo Pritchard.

Congratulations to Kaz Hughes who defeated Annette Norman to win the Club Ladies singles.

After an even first part to the game, unfortunately Annette dropped a couple of numbers and this allowed Kaz to skip away, after which she was never headed.
