C Grade is into the Grand Final after they defeated Rovers United Bruck Green by 5 wickets in their clash at HP Barr Reserve 2 last Saturday.

After losing the toss the Roos were asked to bowl first and opening bat Shane Moore attacked the bowling until Danny Osborne got the important wicket for RUB to be 1 for 38.

Osborne bowled a great spell taking 2 for 10 off his 8 overs, but RUB were still scoring freely at the other end as they moved to be 3 for 83.

But great spells of bowling by Zac Overend and Mark Wallis changed the match, first two wickets to Overend then Wallis chimed in with one.

Overend then got another and when Corey Smith got a run out RUB had fallen to 8 for 100.

Wallis then claimed the last two wickets as the Roos bowled out RUB from 111 in the 33rd over.

Wallis was superb taking 3 for 8 off 5.5 overs while Overend opened the game up with his 3 for 31 off 8 overs.

In reply the Roos made a great start with Corey Smith in great touch as they raced to 56 before Jake Burdon went for 9.

The hearts for the Corowa supporters went up a few beats as the Roos lost their way losing another 3 quick wickets to fall to 4 for 66 including Smith for a hard hitting 40, which included 8 boundaries. But steady batting by Liam Carter and Darcy Collins got the Roos back on track moving the score within 11 runs of victory before Carter went for a well-made 28.

Billy Raggett 4 not out and Collins 17 not out safely saw the Roos to victory in the 24th over with the Roos 5 for 114.

This sees the team take on the other Rovers United Bruck side in the Grand Final in Wangaratta this Saturday.

Get behind the boys and wish them all the best this Saturday.

Girls Under 14s

Corowa’s under 14 girls travelled to Noreuil Park in Albury on Wednesday night to take on New City in the first ever Thunder Stars Cricket Albury Wodonga Grand Final. New City won the toss and elected to bat. The girls looked good in the field from the very first over but were kept on their toes by a strong batting performance by New City who ended their innings with 129.

Corowa again were great in the chase from the opening ball, with opening bats Ebony Hoskin (28) and Rosie Blain (18).

Next in to bat was Rebecca Carrolll who continued the momentum with 13, followed by the big hitting Brydie Lavis with a match winning 40, which included an impressive four 6s and three 4s.

Maddie Hocking and Chloe Hoskin kept the innings rolling with 7 and 6 runs each.

Bella Heagney was next in to fire off a quick 16 and Tess Palubiski adding 18 including another couple of big 6s.

Tess was joined at the crease by Lydia RossAnderson who added an extra 5 off 5 balls.

Annabelle Hocking was great in the field but unfortunately as number 10 player, she was not permitted to bat or bowl.

Corowa finished their 20 overs on 160.

Yet again it was amazing to see so many supporters at the game.

The girls have built quite a following and at times it is hard to tell who is enjoying the cricket the most.

Thanks to everyone who has committed so much time and effort over the season especially David and Bec Anderson for their hard work on getting the side up and running. Things like this don’t happen without that help.

An extra huge thanks to Cath Wood as the competition would not have been what it was without her.

Let’s hope the girls competition will be back next season bigger and better than ever.
