A cold, dewy and foggy morning presented the U14s Roos as they hosted Scots in the 10am time slot at John Foord Oval. The boys got off to a flyer as the silky Bevo scored the first from long range. As it turned out, there was no other goal scored for either team for the term. The fog was getting heavier to start the second as Archie came from somewhere in the fog to fight and scrap, then kick a rip snorter which would, like the first, be the only goal for the quarter. The highlight from the quarter came from Basher “fend off” O’Toole as he displayed his bulldozer ways. The Scots boys came out full of life after the break to kick a goal within 30 seconds. Beau sent the air compressor out with the runner as the Roos looked flat. That bit of coaching genius worked a treat as a great display of teamwork led to a goal by Jedd. The boys were into this game up to their ear lugs as the siren sounded to end the third. A bit of brilliance from Eyersy saw him score the opener of the last. The Roos could smell victory over their own body odour and lifted to another gear. Reward for effort for Eyersy as he kicked his 2nd, which was a great display of his work rate. Bevo soon scored his 2nd but enter Harry Kay-dabra, with a bit of magic and a turning circle of a Mack Truck slotted home a pearler which got the crowd on their feet as the siren sounded soon after to bring up the Roos first win of the year.
