Beer to flow again at iconic pub
It’s great to hear the Royal Hotel in Corowa’s main street will soon be thriving again instead of sitting empty.
The new publican Michael Newnham certainly has some great ideas for the place that will no doubt be supported by the town – karaoke and a children’s play area to name a few.
The historical building deserves the attention it is set to get when renovations get underway in coming weeks, but it’s refreshing to hear the owner plans to keep the country pub look when so many other pubs in small towns are being modernised.
The Free Press looks forward to seeing it take shape over the next three months and reporting on the progress and the opening.
No doubt there will be a lot of pleased residents to have another watering hole to visit and a town can never have too many family-friendly venues.
And the fact that there will be no poker machines in sight could be seen as another plus for many people.
Another positive is that jobs will be created, both during the renovation stage and when it starts operating.
