Corowa footballer off to Darwin
Corowa’s Patrick Lavis has been selected to represent NSW at the state Primary School Sports Association (PSSA) football championships in Darwin during August.
Lavis recently played in the local PSSA round-robin event in Parkes.
He played in the Under 12 McKillop side, a Catholic team, which took on the Riverina side, represented by Corowa’s Justin Lewis, in the grand final.
The result was a thrilling final clash with Riverina narrowly winning by one point. Final score was 26 to 25. Both teams won four games each to reach the final in the week-long round-robin event in May.
Lewis, in the back pocket, held his own in a see-sawing match, while Lavis was gallant in the defeat.
Lavis, although in the losing team, was rewarded with his quality performance during the week after being selected to represent NSW in Darwin for the state championships.
