Corowa foot­baller off to Dar­win

Corowa’s Pa­trick Lavis has been se­lected to rep­re­sent NSW at the state Pri­mary School Sports As­so­ci­a­tion (PSSA) foot­ball cham­pi­onships in Dar­win dur­ing Au­gust.

Lavis re­cently played in the lo­cal PSSA round-robin event in Parkes.

He played in the Un­der 12 McKil­lop side, a Catholic team, which took on the Rive­rina side, rep­re­sented by Corowa’s Justin Lewis, in the grand fi­nal.

The re­sult was a thrilling fi­nal clash with Rive­rina nar­rowly win­ning by one point. Fi­nal score was 26 to 25. Both teams won four games each to reach the fi­nal in the week-long round-robin event in May.

Lewis, in the back pocket, held his own in a see-saw­ing match, while Lavis was gal­lant in the de­feat.

Lavis, al­though in the los­ing team, was re­warded with his qual­ity per­for­mance dur­ing the week af­ter be­ing se­lected to rep­re­sent NSW in Dar­win for the state cham­pi­onships.
