Rutherglen couple now millionaires

The Free Press (Corowa) - - FRONT PAGE - BY SARAH DEAN

There’s been a buzz around Rutherglen after a recently retired couple hit the jackpot, winning $15 million in Tuesday’s (October 3) Oz Lotto draw.

The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, are already planning an overseas holiday to Europe after a Tatts official called the following morning confirming the good news.

The winning ticket was purchased at Rutherglen News & Lotto, with the couple playing numbers they had been using for many years and with no real significance behind them.

The winning numbers were 43, 36, 7, 30, 14, 9, 26 and supplementary numbers 41 and 38.

Rutherglen News & Lotto owner Daniel Taborsky, who took over the outlet a little over a year ago, said it was ‘fantastic’ to have sold their first division one prize.

“We have been operating 15 months and have already sold a first division prize, things are looking good,” he said.

“We are new to the industry so there’s been a lot of celebrating in the store and promoting the win with balloons, streamers, banners and champagne.”

Mr Taborsky said it was great to see a regular and local customer had struck it rich.

“Many customers have remarked how good it was to see a local win and are now just hoping their numbers will come up,” he said.

“This win will do great things for our store and no doubt change this couple’s lives.”

Mr Taborsky said he wished his lucky customers all the best with their windfall.

“They have $15 million dollars so they are going to see the world now, the sky is the limit,” he said. Yesterday’s Oz Lotto draw dropped back to $2 million.

Rutherglen News & Lotto owner Daniel Taborsky is delighted to have sold their first division one prize.
