Oaks Day equals fun and fashion
Fun, fashion and frivolity will be the order of the day as women frock up in their finest for a day of fine food, champagne and horse racing at the Corowa Golf Club Ladies Oaks Day on Thursday, November 9.
There are still tickets available for the luncheon that will this year be held in the lounge area of the Corowa Golf Club, with a limited number of tables available on the balcony already sold out.
Organiser Kerryn Alexander said the event was a tradition that was now well and truly established in Corowa.
“It’s always a great day and we are always amazed by the standard of dress,” she said.
“The women come dressed in their finest hats and outfits, which is always the highlight of the day.”
Fashions on the Field will be judged throughout the day, with the winners announced in the afternoon.
Fashions on the Field categories include best dressed lady, best hat, best fascinator and people’s choice.
Kerryn said the day promised to be fun filled, packed with delicious food, fine wine and friendship.
“Don’t miss this truly traditional event held especially for the ladies of Corowa and surrounds,” she said.
“We have had ladies from interstate as well as far flung regional areas such as Broken Hill, Bright, Korumburra and Albury who have attended with their friends.
“Our visiting ladies have all agreed that the Corowa Golf Club Ladies Oaks Day has certainly lived up to the reputation of being a must attend event in Corowa.”
Kerryn said the change of location from the Golf Club’s auditorium to the lounge area would provide a greater atmosphere.
The decor for the day has once again been donated by Katie Massari from Poppy Emporium.
The day will start at 11.30am with bubbles and nibbles followed by a sit down two-course luncheon at 1pm. All the races will be shown on the big screen. Tickets cost $40 per person, contact the Golf Club on (02) 6033 1466.
