Council is calling for expressions of interest during October via its Federation Council Snippets in the Free Press.

“The strategy will document council’s vision for an age-friendly community where the physical, social, and mental well-being of older people is promoted and strengthened,” Federation Council’s Director Corporate and Community Services Kristy Kay said.

Federation Council secured a grant of $30,000 through the NSW Government’s Liveable Communities grant program for the project.

Key areas of the plan will include health and well being, working and retirement, housing choices, transportation and inclusive communities..

“The project plans to utilise existing net- works and people within the community to undertake the initial planning aspects of the project,” Ms Kay said.

“A steering committee of local senior residents will be established to drive the development of the plan and conduct the community engagement component. Members of the steering committee will be provided with the necessary training.”
